I Start Up, I Design, I Blog, I Run
I design textiles, graphics, print and for the web.
I am currently working on two passion projects, Todayships and Exposure Camp. My startup endeavor Todayships is a web based and (working on) mobile platform that connects teens to creative companies to spend the day working and learning when school is out of session. My belief is “what a difference today makes” It’s my intention to let young people sit in the seat of possibility and bump into that aha moment, inspired by taking a peek behind the scenes in a day in the life of… it only takes one day to change the future.
I also founded a not for profit digital emersion program for teens ( in underexposed areas) called Exposure Camp that introduces teenagers to the idea of becoming content creators, programmers and digital creatives. We offer game, app, web, and content creation workshops and camps.
I have spoken on BBC America about social media and its presence in fashion and niche fields, as well as Saks 5th Ave and aMacy’s about social media and fashion I have also spoken on panels at SXSW, NY Social Media Week and BlogHer.
I am also an outspoken advocate on diversifying design (graphic and textile designer by trade) and technology, having spoken on radio and hosted events to bring attention to the lack of diversity in both the design and tech related industries. Started blog www.digitalcreativesofcolor.com and wrote ebook, 28 Days of Diversity in Design to expose the masses to talented creatives of color.
I run to maintain my health, encourage healthy living in the Bronx and to raise money for the Leukemia and Lyphoma Society.
When I am not working or living online I am kicking it with my son cheering him on at one of his numerous sporting events or kicking it with my youth as the Director of the Youth Ministry at Greater Centennial AME Zion.
