Problem: How can organizations that run out of school tech and creative programming help youth develop, sustain and grow their engagement both during and after a program or event?

Current Barriers

Youth:
  • don’t have info about programs and events
  • forget to register for new programs and events
  • register and forget the start date for program or even they enrolled in
  • don’t have a user-friendly way to give feedback

Programs

  • have low or no enrollment for programs/events
  • have old school not user-friendly process for enrolling
  • have no way to remind students of programs they registered for or even logistical changes
  • don’t have a user-friendly way to collect student feedback which means they cannot improve their programs/events

Project Solution

Meet the youth where they are at by designing an interactive texting experience that programs can update students about upcoming events, program changes and offer students an easy way to offer feedback via sms

I created a web-based interface to manage the outgoing messages that could handle both single and group based texting. I used the twillio API to run the beta and played around with some open source projects that could get rid of the $.01 per message fee for non- profits.
